The Story

More than brunch.
More than recipes.

Mother and son in the kitchen

— my mother's love language.

"Growing up, food was always my mother's love language."

Sufrati: Brunch Edition was inspired by the food culture that shaped our home for years, alongside new recipes my mother continued creating along the way. The dishes friends constantly requested, the combinations that somehow worked perfectly, and the meals that made every gathering feel warmer, louder, and more alive.

I never really questioned it as a child. The sandwiches packed before school, the endless variety of dishes waiting on the table, the guests constantly asking for recipes, or the excitement my friends had whenever they were invited over. It all felt so natural to me that I only later realized how special it really was.

My mother has always had a reputation for being an incredible cook among everyone who knows her. Her approach to food is simple at heart, yet somehow always exciting, comforting, and full of personality. She has a way of turning everyday ingredients into dishes people remember long after the table is cleared.

Throughout the book, she shares personal stories, memories, and the emotions tied to many of the recipes. Sufrati was created to feel personal, conversational, and deeply connected to the people behind the recipes.

"Sitting together around the dining table was non-negotiable in our home."

That feeling became the inspiration behind the name Sufrati — which translates to "My Dining Table" in Arabic. The recipes in this book were created with that same spirit in mind: food that brings people closer.

A gift, returned

This book is, in many ways, a gift back to my mother. A thank you for the memories, the care, the creativity, and the warmth she poured into our home through food. But it is also a gift to anyone who appreciates that homey feeling: slow brunches, shared plates, long conversations, and recipes made to be enjoyed with the people you love.
